Today my brother Philip shares what missions mean to him. Philip is a preacher, music leader, and has a passion for missions. Be sure to check out his page @philip__nathaniel!

While thinking about missions and what it means to me, I was reminded of a story in Acts chapter 16. We find that Paul and Silas had been thrown into prison. At about midnight, with shackles on their feet, they began to pray and sing hymns to God and while the other prisoners listened, a great earthquake shook the place. All the shackles were loosed and every prison door opened. Not only were all the prisoner's shackles loosed, but also the prison guard and his family were led to the Lord through Paul and Silas that night.

You may find yourself like Paul and Silas, not in an actual prison, but you may feel emotionally, spiritually, or physically imprisoned. Trials can often be burdensome and leave us feeling shackled and hopeless. It's in these moments that God can use us, if we will begin to pray and sing to Him, even if we don't feel like it.

Too often our focus is on ourselves and the

problems we face, when it should be on the problem solver and those who are watching and listening to us in the midst of our trials. So, today on mission moment, I want to remind us that one of the greatest ways we can be used by God is to continue to praise Him in the midst of our own trials, that others are listening, and your praise can break the shackles of others too!

Missions doesn't start across the ocean, it starts in your own home. So let your praise be heard and seen by those who listen and watch you daily!
