Mission Moment #1

Writer: Summer WillinghamSummer Willingham

Growing up my mama would often read books about missionaries to me and my siblings. I remember thinking how special those people were and how I never expected that God would call me to be a missionary. I can think back on that now and laugh because little did I know then, that it was exactly what God had in mind.

When I was 16 years old, I was attending an annual conference with my parents. On one particular night, during a service, I knew without a doubt that God was tugging on my heart to serve Him in missions. I will admit that resisted for a while, struggling with doubts. At that time, I never had a desired to travel outside of the U.S. and I didn't feel like I could do it because I was such a quiet and shy person. Honestly, I was scared to death.

It wasn't until a year and a half later, that I finally accepted God's will for my life and went on my first mission trip. Since then, my love for missions has grown so much deeper. I now love traveling to other countries and meeting new people. Serving and loving others brings so much joy that no amount of money could buy. This isn't what I once imagined for my life, but now I wouldn't trade it for anything! ❤

God calls ordinary people like you and me to do an unordinary work. You don't have to be an extra-special person to do His work. He uses the young and the old, the rich and the poor! You are chosen!
