Testimony Tuesday #7

Writer: Summer WillinghamSummer Willingham

Hello, and welcome to Testimony Tuesday! Today's testimony is written by a sweet friend of mine Megan Brooks. Megan has a passion for art and is also a very talented singer and musician. Be sure to check out her page @meganlauren_music.

Growing up in church, I have heard some wonderful testimonies over the years! I love hearing a redemption story of how God has changed someone’s life and is using them to spread the Gospel and work for the Kingdom! I have heard great and powerful stories of sinners being delivered from drugs, abuse, toxic relationships, lust, etc. As a child I remember hearing these amazing testimonies and being asked to share one of my own. I remember shying away and choosing not to share because I felt like I didn’t have a testimony; and if I did share something, it would pale in comparison to the others I had heard. In school I was called a “goody goody” because I never wanted to be apart of what was popular. It would never set right in my spirit because I knew those popular things weren’t pleasing to God. I remember feeling like in order to have a “good” testimony, I needed God to deliver me from a bad thing.

While listening to a sermon one day, I was encouraged by a pastor that said abstaining from sin is just as great a testimony as someone being delivered from sin! That word changed my life and now I share my testimonies through songs that the Lord has given me! Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely far from perfect and I have sinned and fallen short just like anyone else. I have learned that even for Christians, life is not easy and daily doses of encouragement are needed to keep us going. Today, I want to you to know that your testimony matters and it is beautiful! No matter how insignificant you may think your story is, there will always be someone that can find encouragement from the receiving end. So go out and tell your story! You never know how it can impact someone.
